Convex Form

My fascination with visual abstraction led to the exploration of the subject through new mediums like ceramics. This convex form was created with the intention of showcasing an understanding of surface relationships and the internal axis. A rather simple form in appearance, this convexity is truly about the subtle shifts in the relationships between surfaces.
Taking hierarchy into account, the convex form was created with dominant, subdominant, and subordinate relationships in mind. This sense of hierarchy was also examined through the application of a concave indent at the tip of the piece. This feature, though small in scale, carries an important presence throughout the piece.
